My first step in a larger world…

Yup, I was finally able to order the Mac Mini I had wanted. The trusty Fed Ex website says Monday, Monday, Monday.

I was able to justify the purchase by claiming I needed it for ‘browser testing’. So far both my wallet and wife have bought it. Phew! The final purchase included the 1.42 Mac Mini, 512mb RAM, the Superdrive, and all the airport wireless goodies. I also spotted myself a fantastic pair of speakers. The grand total was $873.00

So now I’m clearing a space (a small 6″ space that is!) in preparation. I’ll need to grab a new KVM switch so I can use the same monitor with the setup, but that should prove painless.

So since this is a whole new world for me, what are some of the best (hopefully free) utilities and enhancements for OSX? I’d like to move my general browsing/rss/email over to the mini, but I have no idea at what the best stuff out there is. Recommendations?
