I recently tried to sign-up for CNET’s new newsburst application. I clicked my way to the ever so mind-numbing registration page, and was relieved to find only a few fields required. A quick clickity-clack to enter my information and hit submit…only to be presented with this fantastic mark of a lazy programmer.
Really now, is it to hard to strip whitespaces these days? You can do it in javascript, on the server-side, or even in the database, so what gives?

The thing that confuses me most is the fact that they must’ve gone to the effort of detecting the whitespace in the first place… that’s just as much work as trimming it!
